Junior School History

Year 4 were treated to a fascinating insight into Shackleton’s 1915 Antarctic Expedition on Monday (22nd February).

Known as the Endurance Expedition, Shackleton was attempting to make the first land crossing of the Antarctic continent, one man who made the trip as part of the team went by the name of Rev. Spencer-Smith.

And it was the great niece of the Reverend, Debby Horsman, who visited the Junior School and explained all about the Endurance Expedition to Year 4.

Armed with stunning photos, documents, equipment and plenty of information, Debby captivated the girls with Shackleton’s heroic efforts to get all the men home safely.
