Mrs Martin (Head of Year 3)
This week, Year 3 have been immersed in Aboriginal culture, identifying features of the Dreamtime. Having no written language for tens of thousands of years, Australian Aboriginal culture is rooted in storytelling. Especially the Dreamtime stories, which explain the origins of their environment, the landscape, the plants and animals.
The oral stories that were passed down through generations, often featured characters with undesirable traits.
Using this medium, the girls have been exploring collaboratively, setting and character descriptions using similes, metaphors and adverbial phrases before completing their own unaided creative piece of writing.
