Mrs Martin (Head of Year 3)

After an exciting video message arrived last Wednesday, from Gina, a giraffe who wanted the girls to explain why structures in the UK are different to where she came from, Year 3 ventured out into the local community to start their next Unit of Inquiry on How the World Works.

The girls used their meta-thinking skills to establish why the structures where Gina may have come from, were so different to our own. They made connections to Africa, thinking that perhaps one of the reasons that it was so unalike might be due to the climate and the materials that might be available. After a quick thought shower, we picked up our iPads and went to investigate! The girls took many photos of different types of structures and came back to independently sort these by various means; age, material and use.

We are really looking forward to thinking about what materials would make good structures and a visit from a local builder next week.
