Junior School Eco Club

Mrs Whomsley (Head of Year 5)

Students in the Junior School have been enjoying the early Spring sunshine to complete this week’s Eco Home Learning Challenge of a Spring Scavenger Hunt. With items on the list ranging from daffodils to nests and puddles, the girls were able to participate whilst out on their daily walks or from their gardens. Every week, the students have been set Eco challenges to work on from home and they have responded to these so positively showing their awareness of the importance of caring for the world around them.

This week’s request is to bring in a young plant or plant a seed to contribute to our new ‘Rainbow Garden’ when we return to school. To participate with this, girls have been asked to bring in a young plant or plant a seed or cutting and bring this into school when we return to school. We will be collecting these pots on the Junior School terrace and the students have been asked to label their donations with their name, class and to identify what the plant is. The plants will be cared for in the Junior School greenhouse until they are ready to be planted out in the beds in the garden during the Summer term.

We hope many of the students will join this activity to create a collaborative Junior School garden with a collection of colourful flowers and plants that will be enjoyed by everyone as well as to attract more wildlife to our garden.
