We are delighted to hear that talented skier, Amelia Atherton (Year 6), put in outstanding performances in her first competitive competition.

Competing in the Anglo Scottish Championships 2022 (10th-12th January), which took place in Pila Valle d'Aosta ski resort; Amelia enjoyed the tricky course and placed 4th in the Slalom and Super-G events.

Amelia reflected on the experience: “I had a really good time at the Anglo Scottish Championships in Italy. It was my first ski race competition so I was a little nervous to start with, but I enjoyed spending time with my friends from Apex2100 Ski Academy. We encouraged each other and had fantastic support from the coaches. I was happy with where I placed for my first competition and hope to improve in my future competitions."

Amelia, who is currently a member of the International Ski Academy, Apex2100, which is based in Tignes, France, started skiing when she was 3 years old. From the age of 6, Amelia spent her winters in the French Alps where she joined a French Ski Club, where she would ski every weekend during the winter season with children in her age group. Due to the pandemic, she only managed to ski a few weeks in France towards the end of the 2020/21 season. However, this gave Amelia an insight into her future winters, training schedules and balancing her school work.

We look forward to following Amelia’s promising skiing career!

U12 events entered: Slalom - 4th, Super-G - 4th and Giant Slalom - 5th
