Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)

The Junior School Diversity & Inclusion Group have been busy creating fabulous slides to share with Years 3-6 about the importance of religious festivals and celebrations, as well as our forthcoming presentations about Deaf Awareness week and neurodivergence. The task of presenting either to the whole Junior School, or to their own classes, gives the girls opportunities to develop their communication skills.

This half term the group have shared slides focusing on Eid al-Fitr, which was confidently presented by Year 5 pupils, Joelle and Jaya, and many of the girls helped to create a vibrant wall display to reflect this wonderful celebration in the Islamic calendar. Also, myself and Mrs Howe (Head of the Junior School) were privileged to have had the opportunity to share in the school Iftar on Wednesday 19th April, organised by our South Asian Society, Miss Choudhury (Junior School Teaching Assistant) and members of The Association. With many families attending, it was wonderful to be part of this important event and share in the breaking of their fast after the evening prayers.

Around the room, the students and staff had created informative displays that explained the significance of Ramadan and the Five Pillars of Islam, and also inspirational quotes by the Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him). It really was a joyous occasion, that everyone enjoyed and are now eager to make even bigger and better next year!
