Junior School Eco and Sustainability

By Mrs Whomsley (Junior School Eco Coordinator)

Following on from last year’s Eco Showcase of an amazing collection of sustainable outfits, designed and made by each class in the Junior School, this year’s event did not disappoint!

Our Eco reps chose the theme of sculpture for this year with nature as its focus. The incredible designs were carefully chosen by each class who then planned and created it, collecting the recycled materials needed and adapting the designs along the way. It was a celebration of each class’ planning and collaborative skills not to mention their outstanding creativity.

The sculptures were presented with clear explanations of the choice of sculpture design and materials chosen - with clear links to relevant environmental issues. From a huge, freestanding elephant to a jellyfish made of quilled recycled magazines, the designs were unique and entirely the girls’ own work.

Thank you to our judges, who included members of our Senior School Eco GLG, who offered their feedback on each design. Huge thanks too to every pupil in the Junior School for their brilliant work on their sculptures!
