In a display of resilience and teamwork, the Junior School Navigators alongside expedition leaders, Mrs Copp and Mrs Baker, embarked on an adventurous expedition through the trails of Bedfordshire on Saturday 8th July.

Armed with their navigation skills and camp craft expertise, the intrepid students braved the elements and overcame challenges. Their journey included muddy trails through torrential rain and a 10-mile trek, which became the backdrop for valuable lessons and unforgettable memories.

As the navigators set out on their expedition a heavy rain and an unexpected storm accompanied their journey. Undeterred by the adverse conditions, the girls pressed on and not a single complaint was heard as they embraced the challenges.

Aiding the girls on their expedition were two explorers from Year 7, Sylvia Thompson (with support in training from Juanita Efunogben), who had undertaken a similar adventure the previous year. Their invaluable experience and guidance proved to be instrumental in preparing the group for the day.

The girls also had the opportunity to cook their own lunch on trangias which added an element of excitement to their adventure. Through teamwork and collaboration, they prepared a meal with a sprinkling of dried nettles, enjoying the chance to exercise their culinary skills in the great outdoors.

When asked about the highlights of their challenging day, the girls were quick to share their memorable moments. One girl said: "I loved the mud!" Another girl expressed her astonishment at the distance covered.”

Mrs Copp (Deputy Head of Junior School) reflected: “The memories forged on this journey will serve as a reminder of their ability to work as a team to face challenges head-on. As this is my final expedition with girls at BGS, I take with me yet more great memories as I look back on my many years here at BGS and BHSG.”
