By Mrs Martin (Head of Year 3)

As the grand finale to our Unit of Inquiry, our Year 3 girls stepped into the shoes of significant individuals who have shaped history and inspired change. Through research, creativity, and performance, they will bring history to life, presenting to their classmates dressed as their chosen figures, sharing artefacts, and explaining why their person should be remembered.

From Simone Biles, the trailblazing gymnast who has revolutionised her sport while advocating for mental health, to Jessica Hawkins, a pioneering female racing driver who is breaking barriers in motorsport, the girls have chosen figures who embody resilience, courage, and determination. Pupils took on the persona of Nina Simone, whose music became a powerful voice for civil rights, and Sky Brown, the youngest professional skateboarder who inspires young athletes around the world. Others explored historical figures like Noor Inayat Khan, the wartime spy who played a critical role in the resistance against Nazi occupation.

This immersive experience brought together a range of skills developed throughout the unit Exploring the past shapes our future. This event was a true culmination of learning, where independent research, collaboration, and presentation skills came together in a meaningful way. The girls have not only explored the past but also reflected on how history continues to shape our present and future. Through their voices and creativity, they are ensuring that the legacies of these remarkable figures continue to inspire generations to come.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and can’t wait to celebrate their journey as young historians and storytellers!
