By Mrs Inkson (Head of Year 6)

On Friday 7th February, our Year 6 pupils took part in an exciting Money Matters workshop, where they explored key financial concepts through interactive games. The aim was simple: earn as much money as possible while learning about spending, saving, and investing.

The year group engaged in a range of activities, each representing different aspects of money management. They earned money through hard work (completing exercises), skill (throwing magnetic darts), and investment (repeatedly building wooden towers to simulate reinvesting). They also encountered the risks of chance by playing a version of blackjack - where the odds were definitely not in their favour!

Throughout the workshop, students had the opportunity to save money in the bank, earning interest over time. However, they also had to be on the lookout for the rather suspicious "Richy Rich," who was always ready to trick them out of their hard-earned cash!

While some walked away with impressive fortunes and others learned the hard way about financial risks, all the pupils gained valuable skills in managing money wisely. It was a fantastic hands-on experience, making finance fun and engaging for all!

Jess (6I) said: “I felt that it will help me in life and before the workshop I always spent all my money but now I think I’m going to save more money.”

Eva (6I) added: “I found it really educational and I think it will help me in the future as I want to work in finance.”
