On Monday evening, 73 talented pupils from the BGS Junior Choir took to the stage at Wembley Arena for an unforgettable performance! Accompanied by a live band, they shared the spotlight with renowned soloists, including the multi-award-winning rapper and social media star MC Grammar, lead singer of the BBC Strictly Come Dancing band Tommy Blaize, and Britain’s Got Talent sensation Souparnika Nair.
Yes, there were thousands of other young singers in attendance, but let’s be honest, the BGS Junior Choir was the true highlight of the night!
The Young Voices Concert was an extraordinary experience for everyone involved. Since September, the choir had been rehearsing a fantastic setlist, some of which they had already performed at school. Their moving rendition of Jacob Collier’s Little Blue was featured at the BGS Remembrance Service, while Try Everything from Zootopia added a non-festive burst of energy to their Christmas Concert.
The day was filled with music, starting with a three-hour rehearsal led by Young Voices’ principal conductor, David Lawrence. He guided the singers through the 20-song setlist, helping them come together as a unified choir.
The final performance was the highlight of the evening. As the stadium lights dimmed, the atmosphere became electric, with thousands of lights shining from the crowd. It was an experience the choir will remember for a long time.
After returning to school just before 11pm, the choir members, though a little tired, were filled with the excitement of the night. Looking ahead, they’re already preparing for upcoming events, including the Easter Concert and CultureFest in the summer term.
