Mrs Wathen (Head of Biology)

In Junior Science club this week, our curious scientists enjoyed a thought-provoking introduction to pollen. The girls looked pollen grains under a microscope, investigating the structure, size and shape.

This term they have also looked at How do butterflies drink? which involved standing capillary tubes of different diameters in coloured water and seeing how high the liquid rises. They then discussed the force of attraction of water molecules to each other and to surfaces.

The girls have also done the coin challenge, which involves seeing how many drops of water you can fit on a 1p coin. You would be surprised how many you can fit, try it at home and see!
