Mrs Parsons (Deputy Director of Music)
There were some truly stunning performances at Junior School Summer Concert on Monday night, paying testament to both the talent and discipline of BGS’s youngest students.
An impressively sophisticated sounding Orchestra opened the evening with a rendition of the Beatles’ Yesterday, while the Junior Choir closed out the performance with a rousing version of Tim Minchin’s Revolting Children, taken from the stage version of Matilda. In between there were beautifully poised solos from across the year groups, including Natalie Tshuma (Year 3) singing Ride on a Rainbow by Lin Marsh, and Evelyn Piper (Year 6) who played a violin Intermezzo by Kodaly.
Our small groups were also well represented, including an elegant performance from the String Quartet, a lyrical Sea Shanty from the Woodwind and Recorder group and a reflective Song by the Mountain from the Guitar club. The supreme effort of both students and staff were rewarded in a thoroughly enjoyable and well received concert, and we are so proud of all of the girls who took part!
