A big welcome back from the Junior School Library. It’s wonderful to open our doors and see so many excited faces.
Now we are back Mrs Jhall (Senior LRC Assistant) invites all of the girls to “Grab a humour story and have a giggle. Live the magic found within a fantasy novel. Maybe go on an adventure, or get yourself ready for Halloween with a horror story. The choices are endless and whatever you read you will always benefit from the skills regularly reading bring”.
As part of the libraries ongoing literacy enrichment programme, competitions and promotions will take place via 'Google Docs'. Our first event focuses on National Poetry Day, which takes place on 1st October 2020. This year’s theme is Vision, with the strapline See It Like a Poet.
During their class library lessons, the girls will be asked to write a poem inspired by this year’s theme. It will be wonderful to see how they interpret such a broad concept. Each entry will get a house point and there will of course be winners for each year group. We look forward to sharing the girls' work with you after the event.
October will also see all libraries, throughout the country, celebrate the nation's much loved libraries during Libraries Week 5th-10th October. Mrs Jhall would love to receive your pictures and cards on why you love your school library. All of these pictures and letters will be displayed throughout the week.
With so many new books added to the collection, competitions and events being promoted and lessons and books being enjoyed, the library is, as always, a hive of knowledge, learning and activity.
