Junior School Eco and Sustainability

Mrs Whomsley (Head of Year 5 and Eco Coordinator)

Our Eco Representatives enjoyed a busy lunchtime when we met for Monday’s Eco Club as we worked in the Spring sunshine to tidy and organise our greenhouse in the Junior School Gardens.

After dusting away the cobwebs and sorting our tools and plant pots, we sowed the vegetable seeds we had chosen to grow in one of last term’s meetings including radishes, lettuces, tomatoes, beans and peas.

Over the coming weeks, we will be caring for these seeds as well as growing some flower seeds, which we hope to be able to transfer to some of the beds in our Junior School gardens. Our gardening activities this term are for our work towards one of our Green Flag targets this year of improving our school grounds. We look forward to sharing updates with you throughout the term as we watch our seeds grow!

Emily (6H) reflected: “I really enjoyed doing the planting as it’s nice to see plants grow and help the environment by being more sustainable.”
